Guest Post – Redecorating

Ever since we moved, I’ve been trying to find ways to decorate our home on an inexpensive budget. Since two of my brothers work at The Decorating Center, an interior design store near where we live, I asked for some advice. Here is what I received. I thought I would share it with you as well.

Redesigning your bedroom?  How do you want to feel when you enter your bedroom?  Everyone has a different idea of how the space should feel, but since a bedroom is where most of us sleep, bedrooms should be restful.  When you enter the bedroom, it should portray a feeling of peace and relaxation.  The room should be visually "quiet"; the less stimulation, the better!
Color can play a huge role in acquiring the correct atmosphere.  The most relaxing colors are on the cool side of the color wheel - the blues and greens, and also the grays.  One rule of thumb is to refrain from using bright colors such as orange.  That's not to say that colors such as these can never be used, but you need to be very careful in how that you use them!  Bright colors can be highly subdued by using them on an accent wall (one wall) or by using a decorative painting methods just as faux painting or glazing.  You can also tone down bright colors by applying window treatment and incorporating soft fabrics and colors.
For all of your interior design needs, please visit us at The Decorating Center.

Thanks to Vicki for the great advice. Here are some inspiration pictures I found as I was browsing tonight.
