I am sitting at my computer desk, cozy as cozy can be, ready to take a break. I came home from the final day of school this year and ate a quick supper prepared by my sweet husband. Then, I took a hot shower, sampling the bath goodies that one of my students gave me for Christmas, snuggled into the comfy slipper socks another student gifted me, and sat down to one of my favorite hobbies, writing a new blog post.
It is so very nice to know that I have a two week break from school. I love nearly every facet of my job, but every once in awhile, it’s great to be able to take a break from the routine of everyday life. That’s what I’ll be doing over the next couple of weeks. My to-do list is long. Jason’s family will be joining us at our home for Christmas, so I have many things to prepare for their visit. My to-blog list is long. I have ideas and thoughts that have been gathering in my head for months and months. My school to-do list is long. I am in the midst of preparing for a new theme for my classroom. That means 7 new bulletin boards put up, and various other creative projects as well.
But even though I have much to do, I am determined that this break will be exactly that. Instead of rushing, I choose to relax and enjoy what I am doing. Instead of stressing over each little thing, I choose to savor the songs and spirit of this season. Instead of worrying, I choose to worship the One who is the reason for the Christmas season. I hope that each of you will do the same!
