Book Review – It’s Either Her or Me

This young Dublin fella comes home all excited to tell his ma he's fallen in love and going to get married. He says: "Just for fun, Ma, I'm going to bring over three women and you just try and guess which one I'm going to marry."

The mother agrees, so the next day he brings along three beautiful and sits them down on the couch and they chat away for a while. He then says: "Right, OK Ma, guess which one I'm going to marry."

She immediately replies, "The one in the middle."

"That's amazing, Ma. You're right. How did ye know?"

"I don't like her."

If you are married or dating, you are probably well aware of the traditional strained relationship between daughter-in-laws and mother-in-laws. I have good news for you! It doesn’t have to be like that! It’s Either Her or Me by Ellie Slott Fisher,  is a guide to make your relationship with the “other woman” in your man’s life the best that it can be.

either her or me

About the Book:

It’s Either Her or Me by Ellie Slott Fisher is a must read if you are a mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, or sister-in-law. This book explores the relationships between the different females in a man’s life. In her witty way, Ellie Fisher explains the reasons behind some of the traditional strained relationships, gives examples of good and bad ways to handle different situations, and keeps the reader entertained in the process.

This book contains advice for mother-in-laws, for daughter-in-laws, for girlfriends, and even for sister-in-laws about things such as when you should voice your opinion, and when you should keep it to yourself. It explains why so many mother-in-laws come across as overbearing, and how to keep from doing that yourself. It guides wives and girlfriends in dealing with jealous sisters and other difficult family members.

My Opinion:

This book was interesting, informative, and helpful. I think it would benefit anyone who is an “in-law” of any kind.

  1. Well, I like to think that I have a fairly good and honest relationship with my MIL... however, we are currently building an addition/apartment and she will be moving in with us, if building goes smoothly, by fall. I think this book could be very interesting for both of us!

Checked out Ellie's site, and she also wrote Dating for Dads.

    Thanks for the chance!
