Every week, MamaKat hosts this fun writing exercise. The prompts are always interesting, and there are always lots of interesting posts that stem from the prompts. This week, the prompt I chose was :
5.) Write a poem to your love for Valentine’s Day. :)
So, here goes.
A little boy,
So filled with hurt,
Your daddy had died.
You were just eight,
Alone and confused,
With nowhere to hide.
With no one there,
To show you how,
You learned how to love.
Your only dad,
And example now,
Was the Father above.
When we first met,
I saw the pain,
But I saw more, too.
I saw the love,
I saw the kindness,
I saw the real you.
I saw a man,
Strong, kind and true.
I saw the boy too,
Who needed a friend.
And I knew that I ,
Could be that to you.
These years later,
I’m still so glad,
That I chose you, dear.
I’ll be your friend.
You have my love.
I’m yours, never fear.
That was an amazing poem. You are a good poet. So sweet. Happy Valentines Day!
