Strawberry Shortcake

I was able to buy some strawberries today that did not cost an outrageous amount of money, so I made strawberry shortcake!I used this shortcake recipe from Taste of Home

  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk

In a bowl, cream sugar and shortening. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Combine dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to the creamed mixture. Spread in a greased 9-in. square baking pan. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

Then I sliced up the delicious strawberries, and mixed up some whipped topping.

And here is the final result. Summer on a plate!

  1. Good Morning Bethany! This looks so delicious as does the Pizza Roll-ups! You have been so busy in the kitchen and have accomplished much.

(I tried to post the other day, but I couldn't but it looks like things are working now)

Hi everyone! I am so glad that you dropped by. So, tell me, what did you think of this post?
