The Earth, The Sun, and The Encyclopedia

We have been learning about the hemispheres, and I used a big yellow ball and a globe to illustrate Earth's orbit around the sun, and the hemispheres being closer to or further from the sun.
One of my student's decided to get out the encyclopedia to find out Earth's size. He found it, and kept reading. He came to me thoroughly excited to tell me that the earth was 645,000,000 years old. When I told him that Earth is really not that old, and that the person who wrote that did not believe the Bible, he asked, "Are they right about the size then?"
Another student piped up at that. "Just because they don't know anything about age, doesn't mean they don't know anything about size."

For some reason, I found this funny.
