First day!

I was so excited and nervous this morning. It was my first day as an "official" teacher. I know that teaching children is a huge responsibility, so I was very nervous, but I also know that I have wanted to do it for all of my life, so I was excited.
The day started off on an interesting note. About the time that some of the parents were telling their children goodbye and getting a picture of their first day, I heard a horrid buzzing sound. It sounded like a set of hair clippers amplified about 35 times. We realized it was my clock. I asked one of the parents, who just happens to be the school's computer technician if he could fix it. He did, but it took him about five minutes, so for the first five minutes of the day, I had to talk over it. That helped my nerves! NOT!
The day went well. I have 22 students. 10 in 3rd grade and 12 in 4th. I have 11 boys and 11 girls. Over and over today the students called me Miss Drummond, but by the end of the day they were beginning to remember.
On the way to lunch, one of my students looked up at me and said, "Miss Drummond, do you know that college kid got married this summer." I looked back at him and said, "Yes, but guess who else did." It was cute to see his face as he corrected himself.
If you think of it, please pray for me. I have students with a lot of potential and energy. I do face several challenges, but I am confident that God is more than able to guide me and inspire me as I teach these children to be like Him. I can't wait to see how much they can grow, both academically and spiritually!
